If you’ve been following our blog for any length of time, you may have noticed a previous trend of us attempting to persuade folks away from installing their car window tint themselves. With catchy titles like Your DIY Window Tint Job Can Do More Damage Than You Think, Is It Worth Tinting Your Own Car Windows?, and our personal favorite, 6 Reasons to NOT DIY Your Car Window Tinting, we were on a crusade to steer people away from their car windows and into our tint shop lots. We aren’t saying that the content in these posts is wrong or even that we’ve changed our stance on the subject. But, what we can confidently announce is that here at Jet Black Tint, we did something to help re-write the script (both literally and figuratively) when we developed our own static DIY auto tint. In today’s post, we’ll revisit some old posts and update the information with the most current and accurate reports.
At Jet Black Tint, we are not another auto shop looking to bring people in on high hopes to be met with false promises and a hefty bill to pay. Jet Black Tint is passionate about making every car look great and every car owner feel better about their 4-wheeled investments. So, when we see a problem, we solve it! Our stock rooms are empty and the overhead costs are trickling down to our customers? Alright; let’s create our own line of products! You’ve got no time to wait in the shop for tint? We’ve got you. Our mobile tint services are just the ticket for drivers who value their time. Tight on funds but want a blackout ride? Too easy. Our static DIY auto tint is here for every need and budget. We are problem solvers on a mission. Let’s take a look at how we’ve solved the reasons “to NOT DIY your car window tinting.”
Let’s take it back to the beginning here and directly address each of the arguments in our previous post.
“6 REASONS YOU SHOULD NOT DIY YOUR CAR WINDOW TINTING SERVICE”
Correction #1 – “Looks Unprofessional” to Looks Like a Pro Did the Installation
It is true that if you bring your car to the tint experts at Jet Black Tint that your window tint is sure to be flawless and appear as though the tint was a part of the glass all along. But, luckily for you, these are the same professionals that designed our DIY tint and professionally pre-cut it to your vehicle’s specifications. That way, when you install the tint to your car, it’ll look like a pro did it.
Correction #2 – “Can Cause Damage to Your Vehicle” to Protect Your Windows
We stand by this statement in most cases. When an untrained person attempts to use professional-grade film and installation tools, it can create quite a dangerous situation for your windows and door panels. And, if the need to remove the film ever arises, there is potential for significant glass damage. However, with Jet Black Tint’s static DIY film, there is no need for heat bonding, adhesives, or removing door panels. Since it all comes pre-cut, there’s no need for sharp instruments either. So, JBT DIY tint won’t damage your vehicle and you won’t be at risk of causing damage during installation or removal.
Correction #3 – “Not Knowing the Car Tint Laws” to The Information You Need
It’s absolutely true that not every driver knows all the laws, and some people are completely unaware that laws regarding window tint even exist. But, since the time of our initial posting, the team at Jet Black Tint has set out to solve yet another common tint problem by educating the public and our customers. For instance, check out these articles on the topic, Window Tint Laws Explained and California Car Window Tint Laws 101.
Correction #4 – “Takes All Day” to Can Install in Less Than an Hour
If you’re doing anything for the first time, the potential exists to take much longer than a team of experts in a fully-stocked shop. However, with Jet Black Tint’s DIY pre-cut static tint, installation takes as little as 10 minutes! In fact, most customers say that cleaning the windows prior to an application takes longer than the actual installation itself.
Correction #5 – “Don’t Have the Tools” to No Tools Required
This is probably true for the average home and vehicle owner when attempting to install traditional window tint film. However, this was one of the main barriers Jet Black Tint wanted to overcome with the creation of our DIY pre-cut window film. Other than a soft cloth to clean the glass and a flat edge to smooth the film, no special tools are required for installation.
Correction #6 – “No Warranty” to Limited Warranty
This is probably the only partially true statement in this entire post, and even still only holds some validity. Any work completed outside of your local tint shop won’t carry a craftsmanship warranty, but will still come with a product guarantee that protects your investment. If there are any defects, you’re not stuck with the problem.
The overall consensus is that we cannot completely recant what we’ve said in an attempt to thwart hardy do-it-yourselfers from attempting self installations of new window tint. But, we hope that we’ve offered some clarification about how to optimize the DIY experience.
