Can I Wax PPF?

Yes, you can wax a vehicle that has paint protection film installed, there are just a few things you’ll need to keep in mind. To avoid damage to your PPF, you’ll want to make sure that the wax you use does not have more than 5% kerosene or Naphtha concentrations. To play it safe, you can always bring your car to any Jet Black Tint and Glass location to have your car washed and waxed with PPF-safe products and techniques.

Can I Use Detailing Clay to Wash My PPF?

Yes, in fact, this is the preferred method. Once paint protection film is installed, you’ll want to avoid using harsh or abrasive chemicals or scrubbing tools to avoid undue friction on the film surface. Detailing clay, however, is fine. Before applying the clay bar to the car’s surface, you’ll want to first apply a lubricant, such as soapy water.

Why Does My Clear Bra Look Yellow?

Yellowing paint protection film, including clear bras, is caused by the breakdown of cheap adhesives. This can also happen with poorly-installed or low-quality window tint film. As the adhesives begin to break down, they will begin to appear yellow and continue to warp. If your clear bra is looking yellow, it’s time to have it replaced with Global® Paint Protection Film at your Hayward Jet Black Tint and Glass.

What Happens If My PPF Gets Scratched?

Paint Protection Film has self-healing properties that can recover from minor surface scratches fairly easily. The polyurethane film uses heat to repair itself, so most scratches are repaired on their own in the sunshine. For damage that does not readily repair itself or for situations where the car can not be exposed to direct sunlight in the heat, you can help assist the process by using water heated to more than 120 degrees.

If your PPF is scratched to such a degree that it cannot repair itself, the team at Jet Black Tint and Glass in Hayward can make the repairs at our California tint shop. Swing by to let us assess the damage or call to book your appointment today.

Can I Apply PPF on Windows?

No. The paint protection film is specially designed to adhere to car paint, not glass. Whatever you are hoping to gain from applying PPF to your windows can probably be achieved with window tint film. If you’re looking for protection from dings and scratches, a transparent or a tint with a high visible light transmission percentage will protect your vehicle’s glass without altering the color of your windows or your driving visibility. For added protection from damage, security film may be a better option for you. Whatever your hopes are, the team at Jet Black Tint and Glass has the right option for you. If I Remove My PPF, Will It Damage the Paint?

If you had high-quality paint protection film professionally installed, the chances of damaging original equipment manufactured (OEM) paint is minimal. If, however, you have had any aftermarket paint modifications done or your PPF was not professionally installed, the integrity of the film and paint beneath it cannot accurately be verified and may result in some damage during PPF removal. If you’re not sure, you can have your film removed by the professionals at Jet Black Tint and Glass in Hayward today!

Can I Install PPF Over Paint Corrections?

Yes! If your OEM paint was corrected or touched up, the paint protection film is one of the best ways to keep it protected. We’d highly recommend the paint correction be performed by trained professionals and that the PPF be high quality to prevent additional damage. At Jet Black Tint and Glass in Hayward, we use Global® Paint Protection Film that adheres evenly to vehicle surfaces and won’t draw up the paint when it’s removed.

If I Only Get a Partial PPF Installation, Will You Be Able to Tell?

Many people are concerned that you’ll be able to see seam lines or where a clear bra ends if they choose to get a clear bra or partial front PPF package instead of full-car coverage. In most cases, no, you won’t be able to tell that you only have partial coverage. There are some instances where you may be able to tell such as if someone is looking specifically for the film seam line or when the car unevenly fades. Here at Jet Black Tint and Glass in Hayward, our front-end PPF options don’t abruptly end so there is little chance that anyone will know that your car is covered.
